My work
Available now on a freelance basis
Senior financial content writer.
I’m Chris Morrissey, a freelance writer and editor specialising in investment, wealth management and financial services. I write by hand in the first instance, not using AI. I bring subject knowledge, editorial judgement and ideas for how the finished content should work. Everything is about performance and results. There is no point in unmeasured content that we take for granted.
Separately, I also help teams make practical use of AI. I helped develop Amazon’s LLM, refining finance-related responses generated by their Banyan 2.0 model. I give practical advice to marketing/content teams to succeed in the new world.
KEY ATTRIBUTES/ACHIEVEMENTS
11k to 55k
Newsletter readership grew while I worked on Invstr’s editorial output.
Full range
Depending on the project, I can be a writer, strategist, project manager, manager, or AI integrator.
Coventry Building Society
Personal finance in plain English
Savings and mortgage content for people with little financial confidence, alongside a different approach for brokers. I also helped improve briefs and reviews.
Cleary Gottlieb
Strategising a monthly PE series
I proposed topical deep dives, secured the right partner input and managed the specialist writer, editing and delivery. The PE Wrap was retained after an agency review.
London Stock Exchange Group
Technical brand transition work
Around 50 pieces of clearing-house literature brought into the LSEG identity. Detailed editorial work across factsheets, brochures and operating material, with two contract extensions.
Arrowpoint Advisory
Ghostwriting market commentary
I turned short expert briefings and deal data into three M&A articles, with LinkedIn copy for publication. All three were approved without revisions.
AlixPartners
Storytelling to bring data to life
Working remotely with the firm’s writing team, I co-wrote report sections and wrote the landing page. The published technology research went on to receive CFO Dive coverage.
Your next project
Sound like your current brief?
Send me what you’re working on. An outline is enough to start a conversation.
Here are two recent projects that I’m proud of…
Writing, ideas and getting it all published.

Raymond James Wealth Management
A 16-item responsible investment suite
I developed the content around a layered proposition for private clients and advisers, working closely with the Head of Responsible Investment. The result: a coherent suite used in client conversations and internal training, with a controlled AI workflow for repeat formats.

Phoenix Equity Partners
The founders’ side of the investment story
Five founders, four business stories for a new website. I prepared and led the interviews, drawing out why they chose Phoenix and what the relationship meant in practice. The details made the stories personal to other founders weighing up investment.

Investment commentary, newsletters, thought leadership and independent research, including work for RBC BlueBay, Axyon AI, YTREE and Invstr. Older samples reflect their publication date.
Writing by hand
Experience behind the words
I write with subject matter expertise of my own on asset management, personal finance, responsible investment and plenty more areas of financial services. But I also take insights from your experts and can ghostwrite effectively in their voice.
- Expert interviews and ghostwriting
- Reports, guides, web copy and newsletters
- Technical editing and content development
- Contributor management and editorial review
AI for content teams
Make AI useful in the work you actually do
I worked on model responses at Amazon AGI, then brought that experience into Raymond James. I can help your team build a practical workflow around trusted source material, clear instructions and editorial checks.
At Raymond James, I wrote the underlying material first, then used it to adapt repeat brochures for different audiences. The time saving depended on knowing the content well enough to judge the output.
Rates & arrangements
A single brief or regular support.
£250-300/day or
45-50p/word
This is ballpark. Totally depends on the ask.
In-office, hybrid or remote
I’m usually able to commute to most London or Cambridge offices if it’s part of the agreement, although sometimes (winter) I may be abroad.
Ongoing support
I can always “be your guy” for something like an ongoing content series or we can set booked days. I offer evergreen updates after projects.
Before work starts, we agree the brief, deliverables, fee, timings, review rounds and payment terms in writing. If the scope changes, we agree any effect on cost or timing before I take on the extra work.
