About Me

About me

I’m a freelance writer and editor specialising in financial services. I’ve worked in-house and in agencies, with clients ranging from investment banks and private equity firms to wealth managers and building societies.

Investing got me into writing. DIY investors and analysts often do write-ups on ideas – there’s a whole internet subculture around it. I kept a WordPress blog at university with a tiny following. But it caught the attention of Invstr, a retail investment platform. They offered me a remote job writing their newsletter, which was the start of a career working in agencies, in-house and as a freelancer.

Since then, the work has taken me from private equity publications and technical updating to interviews with business founders and organising whole suites of brochures. Most recently, I wrote investment content during the brand transition from 200-year old Charles Stanley to Raymond James Wealth Management.

I also spent time in Amazon’s AGI team, helping refine their AI’s finance-related responses. That experience informs the advice I now give teams on using AI.

My own writing starts by hand. I’m interested in if something is worth saying, how best to say it, and what it achieves out in the wild. Content needs a commercial purpose. Measure, improve or cut, so it can be a growth driver.

A useful person to have on the team.

I know how much goes on around the writing. There can be debates, briefings, follow ups upon review, source checks, rethinks and liaising with designers and digital and analytics teams. I’m happy doing all those things.

I like creative conversations about getting good results, and working with people who care about doing a good job. I’ll ask questions and suggest improvements. Remote or in person, I can adapt, but I like to feel part of the team.

Outside work

Outside work, I play snooker and enjoy travelling, often with those long-weekend city hops. If your algorithm dictates, you’ll also find me on TikTok as WhyStonksMove. The interest in investing never really switches off.

I’m based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, with London and Cambridge two big cities within easy reach.

I’m available for freelance work and my ears are open to FTCs.

If you think I’d be a good fit for your team, I’d like to hear from you.
