Financial writing
Financial writing for investing, personal finance, and wealth management.
I’m a freelance financial writer with six years of financial services experience turning subject knowledge, research and conversations into content people trust and use. Articles, guides and reports, doing the job you need content to do.
I write all original material myself. But separately, I help marketing teams use AI for efficient content workflows where there are repeat formats, with clear limits and editorial checks.
Who I work with
Marketing teams and agencies.
Readers: retail investors and traders, private clients, institutional investors, investment managers and financial advisers.
Formats: one-off projects, content series, campaigns, and ongoing support.
What I write
The right format for the job.
1,000+ written
Articles & explainers
Useful answers to the questions your readers bring to search, to their adviser or to an investment platform.
Signature work
Guides & brochureware
Longer pieces with a proper structure: examples, comparisons, diagrams and questions that help the reader make sense of the subject.
Web & product copy
Service pages, landing pages and product explanations that make the proposition, the audience and the next step clear.
Market commentaries
Your period commentary on equities, bonds or EMs, with specialists’ experience showing through with their voice and the evidence.
Reports & white papers
Research explained as a story: what the findings tell us, why they matter and what the reader can do with them.
Email & content series
Newsletters and connected pieces that give people a reason to keep reading, rather than filling another slot in a calendar.
Selected writing · four projects
What that looks like in practice.
These projects show the writing, the thinking behind it and my part in the work.

Raymond James Wealth Management
A responsible-investment content suite
Working with the Head of Responsible Investment, I developed a 16-item suite for private clients and advisers. The writing explained a layered proposition consistently across different audiences and formats.

Charles Stanley / Raymond James
Four guides built around life stages
I led the development and writing of four financial-planning guides, working with four planners and four investment managers. The guides and supporting web pages connected financial subjects to the decisions clients face as life moves on.

Coventry Building Society
Savings and mortgages in plain English
I wrote articles and guides for the member Knowledge Centre and Coventry for Intermediaries. The same subject could need a patient introduction for a saver and a more practical, professionally focused explanation for a broker.

Three specialisms
Different readers. Different explanations.
01
Personal investing and trading
Content for people making their own investing or trading decisions, including users of execution-only platforms. Market explainers, product education, platform content and ongoing editorial all sit here.
A long-term ISA investor and an active trader do not need the same explanation. I work from the product, the reader’s experience and the questions they need answered, including the risks and limitations.
02
Wealth management
Financial-planning and investment content for private clients, prospective clients and advisers. Market commentaries, life-stage guides, responsible-investment material and explanations of a firm’s approach or services.
The point is to make the expertise useful. I work with planners and investment managers to bring out the decisions, examples and trade-offs that give someone a better starting point for a conversation.
03
Personal finance
Savings, ISAs, mortgages, buying a home and the everyday decisions that sit around them. Practical content for people who may not feel confident about money, as well as different versions for brokers and intermediaries.
I introduce terms before using them, put a process in the order the reader will meet it, and use examples where a definition alone will not do.
AI in financial content
Make AI useful. Keep editorial control.
I help teams use AI in financial content, drawing on my work at Amazon AGI.
What did you do at Amazon?
As an AI Associate in Amazon’s AGI team, I helped improve the model’s responses to questions about personal finance and investing. I brought financial subject knowledge to refining those answers. That experience now informs how I assess AI output and help clients use it.
Start with sound sources
I write the original material and organise agreed sources for AI-assisted adaptations.
Protect the meaning
Claims, figures, caveats and tone need a proper editorial check.
Keep people in control
Agreed tools, clear review responsibilities and human approval.
For regulated firms, existing FCA obligations still apply when using AI.
Questions
Before you brief a financial writer.
A few practical answers. If your project does not fit neatly into these, just ask.
What kind of financial writing do you specialise in?
My three main areas are DIY/personal investing and trading, wealth management, and personal finance. I write articles, guides, reports, web copy and other content for financial-services teams and agencies. The approach depends on the reader, the product and what the content needs to do.
Can you write for execution-only investing and trading platforms?
Yes. I can help with educational articles, market explainers, product and platform content, and ongoing editorial for people making their own investing or trading decisions. We would agree the intended audience, product scope and review requirements before I start. Investing and trading are not interchangeable audiences.
Do you use AI to write the content?
I write the original material myself. Separately, I help teams use AI in agreed workflows, such as adapting established source material for repeat formats. We would agree any AI use, the permitted tools and material, and the review process beforehand. You should never have to guess how your copy was produced.
Can you help with FCA-related content requirements?
I can support clear, evidence-led writing and work with your specialists and compliance reviewers. That includes attention to claims, risk wording, caveats and the intended audience. I do not provide legal advice, approve financial promotions or guarantee compliance. Regulatory judgements and sign-off remain with the firm and its appointed reviewers.
Can you work from interviews with our experts?
Yes. I can research the subject, prepare questions, conduct the interviews and develop an outline before writing. This is useful when the expertise exists in the business but the people who hold it do not have time to turn it into finished content.
Do you work with agencies as well as in-house teams?
Yes. I have worked in-house, in agencies and as a freelancer. I can work with an existing brief and review process, or help put a clearer one in place. The important things are knowing who the reader is, who owns the brief and who needs to review the work.
Can the content be written with Google and AI search in mind?
Yes. I can build the piece around genuine reader questions, use descriptive headings, give direct answers and make sources and expertise easy to identify. That is useful for people as well as search systems. No writer can guarantee rankings or inclusion in an AI-generated answer; technical access and the wider site matter too.
How do you price a project, and how long will it take?
Send me the subject, audience, formats, approximate scope and deadline. I will work out the research, interviews, writing and review time with you, then agree the fee and schedule. My Work includes indicative rates; the final quote depends on the brief.
Already have a draft or a content series to manage?
